In 2017 Mattel released a special series of diecast cars for the Fast & Furious movie franchise. These cars represent various vehicles shown in the films. There have been F&F cars released by Hot Wheels before and since, but these slightly larger scale cars (1/55th) were released under the Mattel name to distinguish them from the standard size Hot Wheels cars.
There are 38 models in the set, representing 35 distinct castings. 2 of the cars don't have rolling wheels, so for racing purposes there are really 33 unique vehicles. I have 30 of the 33 cars (and multiplies of several), but hope to acquire the remaining three. Note that there were a number of cars that were only released in Europe, so it can be a challenge to acquire some of the models and the rare cars get pricey. On the inventory page, I share the catalog of cars in the series
This is one of the premier series in diecast racing. Be aware though that some of the cars are too wide for a standard orange track. See the last column in the table below.
Key notes/considerations:

Key notes/considerations:
- I race on a two-lane, 27 foot Derby Magic track (equivalent to about one-third of a mile). The Derby track is 22% wider than a typical Hot Wheels orange track, allowing me to race the wider F&F cars.
- I categorize my cars into speed tiers with 5-Stars being the best. The 5-star performers all have times under 2.500 seconds.
- I only count the fastest casting in my rankings for a specific car/brand.
- I've applied graphite to the cars, which really brings out the speed in these cars
Mattel Fast & Furious (1/55th Scale) Rankings
Observations:
- One of the better series in diecast racing. 7 cars at the 5-star performance level and 8 cars that are 4-stars.
- Only 1 car (Navistar MTX) is not fast and most are 3-star or better.
- Although generally oversize, these cars (with plastic bases) largely fall into the Light Heavyweight and Middleweight classes, only a couple are Heavyweights
- Stand outs:
- The 1969 Mustang Fastback and the 1970 Dodge Charger Off-Road are tied for the 5th fastest overall cars. They are also tied as the fastest Light Heavyweight cars.
- Other outstanding Light Heavyweight models: the Ice Charger is the 7th fastest, the Mercedes AMG GT is the 10th and the Custom Downhill Buggy is 16th.
- The 1966 Ford GT-40 and the Ghibli are the 12th and 13th fastest Middleweight cars
