An English diecast toy maker that was eventually sold to Mattel in 1989 and was later independent again. Corgi was a strong competitor to Matchbox back in the day. Historically featuring mostly rubber tire collectible cars, but starting in the early 1970's under the Corgi Juniors brand, they released Whizwheels. These were lower friction cars that were a response to the Hot Wheels cars from Mattel and the Superfast line from Matchbox.
